Refugee Crisis in Europe

Over the past year, more than 340,000 people have fled to Europe to escape war or persecution in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. The IRC is responding to the crisis on the overwhelmed Greek island of Lesbos.

The world is witnessing its worst refugee crisis in 25 years. More than 4 million Syrians have fled to neighboring countries to escape a brutal civil war now in its fifth year.

South Sudan's Road to Peace

Thousands of people have been killed, and more than two million displaced by the civil war in South Sudan. In the wake of a new peace deal, the IRC is continuing to provide urgently needed assistance including medical care and clean water.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.

Voices for the IRC

Jazz saxophonist and composer Joshua Redman is a two-time Grammy Award nominee. This year Josh traveled to remote areas of Myanmar where he saw firsthand how the International Rescue Committee provides health services to the most vulnerable.
