“…the International Rescue Committee says that only one-half of 1 percent of the rapes it deals with in Sierra Leone lead to convictions. I soon saw the challenges first hand.”
- Nicholas D. Kristof, in his latest New York Times column, describing the courageous efforts of a 15-year-old girl named Fulamatu to find justice after being raped by a neighbor. The IRC is helping Fulamatu and many other rape survivers like her in Sierra Leone and around the world.
Read Kristof's October 8 column about the IRC's rape treatment center in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
